Always looking for new ideas on encouraging reading.

We've started several summer reading programs. Scholastic has a summer program that is based on how many minutes you read a day.  Book Adventure by Sylvan offers comprehension quiz's and prizes after so many points have been earned. Barns and Noble offers a free book after reading 8 books and so does the Public Library.

We have also added our own little adventure or at least we're working on it.  Most of our rewards are about $5.00 or less, I would really like them to be less but the truth is if she earns it she earns it and a little treat once in a while is something I really don't mind spending on my kids.  Besides some of them are more family treats anyways.  Here is my list so far.

A treat from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
A lunchin and treat at Dairy Queen
Make your own ice cream treat
A pizza dinner
Cascade indoor sports - The Big Play Thing
Cascade indoor sports - Skate Night
Bouncing off the Walls
1 Free Book
Day at the park
Movie night
Afternoon gaming
Cash - $1 to spend
