No more dressers.
No more dressers! We use trunks!
We don't use dressers for the most part. It started when my eldest daughter was about 4 and kept breaking hers because she was using the handles as step stools and climbing up it. Eventually I just gave her an old trunk I had and now 3 years later that's still what she keeps her clothes in. We were reading Little House on the Prairie books and that's what they used so we figured why not. My husband and I got rid of ours that same year just because it was busted and we didn't have the room. I do need a new shelving unit for his work clothes and we use our night stands for under garments and socks.
Now 2 kids later we have a large dresser in their room that was given to us. Both my 3 year old and almost 1 year old use it for all their clothing. Well with three kids crammed into such a tiny space thankfully only for sleeping I knew we had to do something. As I was perusing BIG LOTS for a box fan I happened upon these lovely trunks. Veronica wanted the owl one Jannel wanted the peace flower and that would leave the pink love for Samantha. The only problem is their $49.99 each.
All the same $150 to replace 3 dressers I think it's well worth it. Jannel technically doesn't need one but the one she's using was old when I got it as a kid so it's time for an upgrade with her sisters. Hopefully they still have them when the time comes. This will save them a bit of space and open up their room a bit. Then I just need curtains and some shelving brackets for books and their room will be a lot nicer :) yes pictures to come.
Update: So they had run out but another year goes by and they're in stock again. Not the sames ones but some cute trunks none the less. It's awesome that even my 2 year old can put her own clothes away. I would like to build something stronger and make them into reading nooks for their room. One day, one day :).
