Diets Ahhhhhhh! But wait there's hope.

So there is hope! This is stuff we already know.  The best diet is the one that you can keep to for a long, long period of time.  Honestly we all know the truth or at least we should.  Keep your carbs and calories low but not so low that your starving.  Make sure most of those calories are from real unprocessed fruits and vegies.  Processed food has a lot of other junk to it that isn't going to help you long run and it's a quick fix which usually means your going to eat more or eat when your not really hungry.

Now last year I went off the deep end and cut my food consumption hard.  The problem is it just became a mental thing and depression did it's best to weasel its way in to my life.  I'm not going to let that happen again.  Food is important and it's good to eat wisely.  Heres my tips for keeping your sanity and keep on the right direction.

  • Buy a note book (probably one that will fit in your purse) or have one on your phone if your more apt to use that.  I like writing on real paper.
  • Right down everything you eat, EVERYTHING! Add in the time of day and how you feel.  Meal planning is also really helpful so your not looking for something yummy when your hungry you already know what your going to have.
  • Look for something lovely or yummy in either your day or the new food your discovering.  What's good about it! Emotional stability and weight go hand in hand so take care of yourself.
  • Have someone you can share with, someone that will go on this journey with you and encourage you while your encourage them! You can do this!

Then at the end of the day I highly recommend logging your food intake into myfitnesspal.com  You can be very specific and it will help you keep a regular log of how many calories your eating.  Who knew that granola bar had about the same nutritional value as a doughnut!

  1. HI Chris! I've finally gotten my computer updated and running again. do you have Skype installed. We Just had Charter Broadband installed again, almost 2 years without. had so much problems updating 2 computers to run now. would you like emails or postings to share our pictures and videos? Also a comment on diets,(sorry) If you eat, that is your diet. God does provide such a wonderful bounty, varieties,types,cultural,ect.. do you currently incorporate food prep and cleaning up as the blessings and instructions for Jannel and Veronica? The approach is so important in getting the kids to appreciate all the effort, but,I rarely did not have a positive response to a request to "help Mom or Dad out!" although, the amount of help varies. 1. I hate the idea of dieting, I love food in all it's variety. However, I'm also tired of being overweight and doing all the research because just eating wholesome food in moderation isn't cutting it.

As for the kids- they love helping in the kitchen. Jannel can make a variety of dishes on her own. From breakfast burritos, sandwiches, stir-frys and even made a couple cakes from scratch. She'll often make lunch for herself and her sisters while I clean up after lessons.
