Schooling comfortably!

We don't need no stinking desks! LOL.  Ok I hate my kids sitting on the tops and arms of the couch but sometimes it's best to just let them be comfortable.  My eldest is working on her writing in this picture and to my surprise she finished a weeks worth of writing on her own, without being told to, simply because she could.  She loathes writing, it usually ensues crying, screaming and broken pencils.  I give her a list of words and sentences to write down and she has all week to do it.  On Tuesday she decided if she did a good job and just finished it she wouldn't have to work on it later.  She did it and with beautiful penmanship.

This is my middle child playing on starfall.com learning her ABC's and showing her little sister what the letters are. We may use a lot of technology in our teaching approach but we use what works.  She also spends time tracing letters and number on a dry erase pad and is constantly outlining letters and words wit her fingers in books, coloring and other games  to help learn fine motor skills and other words.

I love the road we're on and am so blessed to be teaching our kids.  I keep hearing that the programs in which they are using are very advanced although my kids find them to simplistic and easy.  This tells me we're on the right track and moving forward.
